Hear from Dr Ryan Sweet about how he collaborated with disabled people in creating this new board game, based on Victorian leg amputees along with the guidelines for inclusive board game design.

The Inclusive Board Game Project (2023-24) is a collaboration between an academic researcher, Ryan Sweet (Senior Lecturer in Humanities, Swansea University), a games company, Focus Games Ltd, and a focus group of members of the disabled community (including Rachel Stelmach from Disability Arts Cymru). The project has involved designing an inclusive board game inspired by Ryan's 2022 book Prosthetic Body Parts in Nineteenth-Century Literature and Culture and a set of accessibility guidelines for board games makers. The prototype tabletop game produced by the project is provisionally entitled "Legless in London". The Inclusive Board Game Project is funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council Impact Acceleration Account at Swansea University.

Cwrdd is open to all our members. Cwrdd events take place every first Tuesday of the month from 5-6pm on Zoom. It’s a chance to meet DAC members, share your work, and have important conversations about disability arts. Most of our Cwrdd events also have a guest speaker, creating a space to learn more about their work and experiences while also being able to share your own.
