Meercat Collective - Jeremy Hawkes
Join Meercat Collective for a fascinating disability art event with artist Jeremy Hawkes.
Born in Papua New Guinea, leading Australian disability artist Jeremy Hawkes has lived in New Zealand and around Australia, and has travelled extensively in Asia too. A trained sculptor, his work changed when he became disabled, he began to draw and paint, and explore photography and digital art. His work also became more conceptual. He is interested in identity vs pathology, the human body in/as architecture, mortality and hubris, intersections of self, sexuality, mark-making and technology. He will share his experiences and art practice, and how international connections expand his work.
