Arts Marketing Association appoints new Chair

Arts Marketing Association (AMA) has announced that Director of Result CIC, Jane Cordell, will be the new Chair of its board.

Jane has been an AMA board member for five years. She succeeds Tim Wood who has stood down after seven years as Chair. Jane leads a board of eight professionals from across the UK who represent the voice of over 4000 members with marketing and communications responsibilities in arts, culture and heritage.

Jane has worked as a lecturer, editor, diplomat and is now a Director of social enterprise, Result CIC which provides coaching and personal development training to marginalised people. She is a classical musician who became deaf in her early twenties and works regularly as a coach and trainer, a public speaker and equality campaigner.

Jane is an Honorary Fellow of Liverpool John Moores University and has previously won a Manchester International Women’s festival award for Business of the Year for promoting and improving opportunities for women. She brings governance experience from a variety of roles including five years as Chair of DaDaFest (Disability and Deaf Arts).

AMA CEO, Cath Hume said, “I’ve loved working with Jane as an AMA board member during the last five years and am looking forward to her bringing her experience and energy to the role of Chair. Jane will be leading us to achieve our vision of having audiences at the heart of the cultural sector.”

Jane Cordell said: “It’s an honour to be appointed as Chair of the Arts Marketing Association. It’s an exciting time ahead as the AMA looks to champion marketing, advocate for our members, and help address systemic barriers to a more diverse cultural sector. Our members play a vital role in connecting and building long-lasting relationships with their audiences. I can’t wait to help support the ambition of Cath, her fantastic team, and my fellow board members in ensuring the importance of the marketing skillset of our members is recognised across the cultural sector.”

Outgoing Chair and former Deputy Chief Executive of Rambert, Tim Wood has served as a board member since 2009, the Vice Chair from 2012 – 2016 and steps down after two terms in the role.

Cath added: “I would also like to this this opportunity to say a big thank you to Tim Wood, who during his time as Chair has been a friend, advocate and champion of the UK’s arts marketing workforce during a period of immense change and challenge in the sector.

“I would like to recognise Tim’s vision and passion for the Arts Marketing Association. His dedication to the AMA has been invaluable both to the organisation and myself personally. Tim has helped steer the organisation through challenges, exciting changes and a period of growth which has seen our community of members double in size. We are deeply grateful for his support and wish him well for his next adventure.”
